Billing

Elula's one plan, how to subscribe, switch billing period, cancel, and what happens when a payment fails.

Elula has one plan, Starter. You need it to create and deploy apps. There is no free plan.

MonthlyAnnual
Price$9/month$89/year

The plan covers the workspace, not each person. Your Google Cloud usage (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, builds and so on) is billed separately by Google to your own project.

Subscribe

  1. Open Billing in the dashboard.
  2. Pick Monthly or Annual.
  3. Click Start 7-day free trial (or Subscribe to Starter if you've already had a trial) and enter a card in the Stripe checkout.

Free trial

Your first subscription starts with a 7-day free trial.

  • You enter a card at checkout, but nothing is charged for 7 days. You can deploy and create apps straight away.
  • We email the workspace's owners and billing managers before the trial ends, with the date and the amount.
  • When the trial ends, the card is charged and the subscription carries on monthly or annually.
  • Cancel before the trial ends (Manage subscription → Cancel subscription) and you pay nothing.
  • Each person gets one free trial, across all their workspaces. A workspace that was subscribed before doesn't get another trial.

Card and invoices

Click Update card & invoices on the Billing page. This opens the Stripe billing portal, where you change the card on file and download invoices and receipts.

Switch between monthly and annual

Click Manage subscription and choose a billing period.

  • Monthly to annual applies now. You're charged the prorated difference today.
  • Annual to monthly applies at your next renewal. You keep annual billing until then.

You can't switch while a cancellation is scheduled (resume first) or while a payment has failed (update your card first).

Cancel

Click Manage subscription → Cancel subscription.

  • The subscription ends at the end of the current billing period. You keep the plan until then.
  • You can click Resume plan any time before it ends.
  • After it ends, you can't deploy or create apps until you subscribe again.
  • Apps that are already running keep running in your Google Cloud.

When a payment fails

If a renewal payment fails, the Billing page shows a warning and Stripe retries the charge. Update your card from the warning or with Update card & invoices.

  • For the first 7 days, everything works as normal.
  • After 7 days, new deploys are paused until the payment goes through. Running apps are not affected.

When the payment succeeds, deploys work again.

App limit

The plan includes up to 5 apps. Creating a sixth shows: "You're at 5 of 5 apps on your plan. Upgrade for more, or delete an app you don't need." Delete an app you no longer need to make room.

If a workspace has more apps than its plan includes, the apps keep serving traffic but deploys are paused until you're back within the limit.

Deleting the workspace

Deleting a workspace cancels the subscription straight away, with no refund for the rest of the period. See Delete a workspace.
